I am so excited that Vicki Davis and some of her students will be presenting at our Media Conference in March. I’m looking forward to hearing first hand how she uses web 2.0 tools in her classroom. Also it will be great to hear it from the students’ point of view.

I have used Wikis for Professional Development projects that required collaboration. They allow for the creation of statewide projects and I hope to extend my use of them in this capacity.

I really liked the Code Blue Wiki. I thought it was well laid out and easy to navigate. It was creative and contained a lot of information. I would think that the students learned a lot and enjoyed this project.

Math 12V Outcomes Portfolio Wiki appears to be more of the teacher’s space for course materials and information. He has a lot of good information, but I like seeing the students use the Wiki in Project-Based Learning.

The Flat Classrom Wiki is a great collaboration project. It is easy to see what is student created and what is teacher created.

Just the other day I added Google Reader to my iPhone, found it interesting that we were using it here. A friend was constantly talking about Google Reader and sending me these cool sites and information she had found so I decided during those waiting times, doctor’s office, riding in a car, etc. I could catch up on cool information no matter where I might be. Once again another way of using the technology to try and keep up with the latest technology.

This interesting article discusses the use of netbooks and open source software to make 1-1- computing affordable for schools. This is actually something we have been experimenting with at our ETC by putting a set of netbooks in a classroom and having the teacher to gather data about how well they are working in the classroom. Having this article will be very useful as we move forward with this project into a new classroom–we have also tried to vary the age group too.

4-have confidence in yourself as a competent, effective learner
5-create your own learning toolbox
